2024 Commercial Graduate Programme

A programme designed to prove your commercial aptitude and test your resilience, an opportunity to hone your skills for a seat at a trading desk as a Commodity Trader. You will provide front-line support to traders and operators primarily within Risk Management, Credit Risk or Analytics, with opportunities to rotate between. Other commercial areas of the business can include Operations, who are responsible for the logistical and financial execution of each trade and Sustainability, a team responsible for keeping track of ongoing and changing developments concerning the energy transition.

Entrepreneurial abilities, accuracy, and strong communication skills are the key ingredients for a successful career in trading at Glencore.

2024 Risk Management Graduate Opportunity

Our risk managers work closely with front line traders and operators within Product Control Risk, Market Risk and Credit Risk. Risk managers maintain physical and derivative exposure whilst assessing the accuracy and validity of mark-to-markets in order to produce profit and loss reports and risk metrics. They provide analysis ensuring that hedging is executed in line with our trading team’s strategy. 

Accuracy, confidence and exceptional analytical skills are key attributes in this area of our business, an aptitude to use and learn a coding language is an advantage. As a key member of the trading team, excellent communication and relationship management skills are required to maintain an independent view whilst also adding value by providing accurate data directly to the trading desk.

2024 Trading Analytics Graduate Opportunity 

Our trading analysts work directly with our traders to evaluate fundamental global market supply and demand across the barrel utilizing mathematical and programming techniques. Our analysts work closely with traders, shipping and IT, developing tools in order to deliver value to the business. 
Forecasting market trends and strategic global thinking are important skills. A good analyst will proactively form an independent view of the market and present clear and concise data to support this opinion. This data will be used to add value and inspire commercial strategy within the trading teams.

2024 Industrial Placement Programme 

This programme is suitable for undergraduate students who are completing a degree that includes a year in industry. You will be equipped with the highest level of professionalism, personal ownership and commercial aptitude. 

Placements take place for 12 months between July and June and range across the commercial, corporate finance, Health and Safety and Engineering teams within both the Marketing and Industrial Assets areas of the business.

Numerical aptitude is important, as is the ability to work well in a team and to think and act independently. We look for people with language skills and cultural awareness as diversity is integral to our business.

We are looking for students who are currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from a Bachelors or Masters degree and are available to start in 2024. We welcome graduates to join us from January through to December, based on your availability.
